Lawrence is a custom fabricator with a passion for the Arts. A native New York City transplant into Baltimore City, he has been a part of the Maker community in Baltimore City for 5 years mainly through the Station North Tool Library as a volunteer. Lawrence started Heavy Paper Company to bring custom creations to life. His focus is with custom signage and furniture. Over the years, Lawrence has worked with many local businesses, personal clients, and global brands to create fantastic pieces.

Heavy Paper Company specializes in custom furniture and sign fabrication. We strive to create heirloom quality furniture that will add functional beauty to any space.

History

Lawrence’s first experience in a wood shop happened in middle school. His first project was a wooden bear, which is the catalyst for the brand’s logo. To this day, Lawrence still has his wooden bear, and keeps it on his mantle as a reminder of his passion on becoming a maker. Over time, he has had diverse career interests, but has never lost his passion for creating quality goods from scratch.

Since 2011, Lawrence began sharpening his skills at different maker spaces around the Baltimore, MD area. He took on small projects by making specialty pieces as gifts for friends and family.

In 2017, Lawrence started Heavy Paper Company as a full time commitment to his craft, by taking on commission work from private business clients.
